A new medium I have recently started using is coloured pencil.
And I am pleased that I have had a picture accepted for an exhibition in the Derwent pencil Gallery in Keswick, Cumbria.
A further achievement is having had a painting of a millstone quarry included in a book about the moorland around Sheffield – Sheffields Golden Frame by Bill Bevan.
I am a self taught artist and have been painting for approximately 10 years, beginning with watercolours, then developing my expertise into using oils and pastels. I enjoy painting a variety of subjects. I was born in Cumbria near the coast and several of my initial oil paintings were of coastline where I spent a lot of my childhood. I later moved to Cheshire, then Derbyshire with my family, which give me inspiration from the wilderness and countryside. I love wildlife in various forms and animals are a particular favourite of mine to paint.
I also love oriental art and have used some designs from oriental porcelain combined with Butterflies and flowers to create interesting oriental work. One enthusiastic customer called It “embroidery with watercolour”.
